Matthew John lake was born in 1966, Perth, Western Australia.Travelled extensively through-out Europe and the United Kingdom in the 1990's. He now resides permanently in Cairns, Queensland, Australia.
He studied Graphic Design in the 1980's and graduated with a Degree in Visual Arts from the Western Australian Acadamy Of Performing Arts in 1994.
Lake has been involved in 16 exhibitions since, three of them being sold out solo shows. He is represented in collections through out Australia,The United Kindom, Europe and The USA. he has just returned from participating in the 2006 Guangzhou International Art Fair, China.
Lake's work is extensively sought after. His use of bold colour and a variety of techniques expresses his exploration of and passion for any subject matter.
Lake projects his strong Australian background through his visual language in the representation of his surroundings, using his strong drawing ability and an extraordinary use of colour.
